Tower of Sark

Tower of Sark graveyard is on the site of the old Morton parish church, but there is no sign of the church

building now. There are many very old gravestones with armorial bearings here, many Armstrongs in

particular.

A transcript of the pre 1855 gravestones was recorded by Gilchrist and Shannon in the 1960s, and now is

published by the Dumfries and Galloway Family History Society. Many of the stones appear to have been

stacked on top of each other, so many are illegible now, however there are some photographed here

which were not recorded by Gilchrist and Shannon. My transcripts are taken from the photos so are not

guaranteed accurate!

Photos taken at Tower of Sark are in my online album HERE - arranged in alphabetical order. Transcripts

are under each photo, or can be downloaded as a PDF file.
